The Fono & Whanau Ora COVID-19 Relief Packages!

Pasifika Futures have established a family support COVID-19 relief package for families directly and indirectly affected by COVID-19. The key messages behind this grant are:

  • The purpose is to support families through potential hardship as a result of COVID-19. This will be calculated on a per family basis to enable the purchase of:
    • ‘preparedness packages’ (for vulnerable families), and/or
    • ‘hardship packages’ (where families are affected directly by infection (including self-isolation), or from the economic impact of COVID-19) for a period of 14 days
    • This support is available to any Pacific family in need. Non-Pacific families will be referred to MSD to access their packages of support.
    • The funding support can be for household items, food and other supplies to sustain a family for 14 days, and can include items such as:
      • Pre-made food parcels and food vouchers.
      • Payment for essential utilities because of income reduction.
      • Support to work and study from home.
      • Medical costs.
      • Resources will be distributed on an ‘as needs’ basis following assessment by staff, and approval by the Manager Social Services.
      • Cash will not be given directly to people, instead funds will be paid directly to suppliers. Only food grants will be given directly to people.
      • All resource requests must have a COVID-19 relief grant request form attached.
      • Email requests to or leave in the tray outside her office. Contact Ana directly (mbl 021956633) with any queries.
